Sergio cards 71 shots in Akron

Sergio Garcia (+3) finished with a 71-round on the second day of the WGC Bridgestone Invitational at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

The Spaniard climbed some spots in the leaderboard, but unfortunately the result has been not enough to get closer to the top spots. Sergio is ten strokes away from the solo tournament leader, Jimmy Walker.

Sergio completed his round with two birdies and three bogeys on. His long game was not as solid and forceful as Thursday and he was not able to get valuable birdie chances. After birdieing holes 2 and 3 (he started on the back nine) signs were promising, but a bogey at 4 and another at 6 shattered hopes.

As there is no cut at World Championships there are still opportunities for Sergio in the remaining 36 holes. He is six strokes behind the top ten.

Sergio will play on Saturday starting at 10.20 local time, six hours later in mainland Spain. He will play alongside Matt Kuchar.
