Sergio Garcia (-5) delivered a 67 in the third round of THE PLAYERS Championship and is placed seventh. Literally a 'moving day‘. He has climbed almost forty positions in the standings and is positioned four strokes behind the leaders J.B. Holmes and Kyle Stanley. A victory won't be easy, but at least Sergio has given himself a good chance to fight for it.
Sergio delivered the second best result of the day, only surpassed by the 66 of Pat Perez. He hit a lot of superb shots and gave himself many birdie chances: He made no less than six birdies and one eagle, an extraordinary yield that keeps his hopes up for Sunday.
Sergio realized after his round his mind was more released. It has not been easy to digest the first tournament just after winning The Masters. "The first two days I felt like I was chained to the Masters, as if my head was still there. Also, maybe I got more pressure from than usual unconsciously, thinking I had to do well after winning in Augusta. Today I felt more liberated and I hit very good shots," he said.
Sergio will go to play on Sunday the last round of THE PLAYERS from 20.00 (Spanish peninsular hour) with Patrick Cantlay.
