Sergio's game deserved a better result

Sergio Garcia has kicked off the WGC Bridgestone Invitational with a 72-round, two over par. Even though his result after the first 18 holes positions him with significant gap behind the leader, there are still chances for him to climb positions in the ranking.

Sergio carded three bogeys and a solitary birdie. Although the South course of the Firestone CC is a very demanding field, the Spanish player managed to earn himself several birdie chances. But the putter did not get hot to seize the opportunity.

His game deserved a better result. However, there are still 54 holes ahead to come back and the distance to the leader, Thomas Pieters, are seven strokes which is still manageable to catch up over the next three rounds.

Sergio will play this Friday from 8.10 local time, 14.10 mainland Spain.
