Promising conditions for Sergio’s 85th Major and 23rd Open

Sergio Garcia will compete in his 85th Major and 23rd Open Championship this week at the Dunluce Course of the Royal Portrush Golf Club. These are impressive numbers and not many players achieve that.

His track record in The Open - his favorite Major and where he has always been greatly supported by the fans - is excellent: In 22 participations he has passed the cut 17 times, but more importantly summed up ten top10 and five top5 finishes. Good vibes for a successful tournament. Another interesting fact is that the last Open was played 1951 at Royal Portrush, so it will be new ground for Sergio and all other participants to play this Major Championship here.

His first impression of the Northern Irish course has been very positive. "I like it a lot, I think it's a demanding course that requires to be good in all facets of the game," he explains.
