Sergio makes history in Shanghai

The WGC HSBC Champions, starting this Thursday at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, will be a special tournament for Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard equals Lee Westwood’s record of 60 appearances as player who has disputed most World Golf Championships in history.

Sergio turned professional in 1999, the year in which this series of tournaments entered onto the calendar, and has accumulated 59 participations to date with no less than 20 top ten, the last two this year after finishing sixth in the WGC Mexico Championship and reaching the quarterfinals in the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

In China, Garcia will aim to secure his first victory of his career in a WGC in order to tick the box as a Spanish triumph in this event series. The HSBC Champions will be Sergio Garcia's third tournament of the 2019-20 PGA Tour season after the CJ Cup and the Zozo Championship.
