In July 2017, García married Angela Akins, a former Golf Channel reporter. They have two children, Azalea (born 2018) and Enzo (born 2020). The couple is very engaged in their foundation work. The Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation works closely with the AJGA supporting young golfers committed to the sport and wanting to develop their skills on the highest level. Angela Garcia just recently launched the UGLI Foundation supporting her mission to fight bullying. There are also many projects supported by the Sergio Garcia Foundation in Europe for the purpose of contributing to the social inclusion of economically deprived children and youth, through social assistance and the practice of sport as a free-time activity.
Sergio is a devoted family man and father. When he isn’t competing in tournaments, he is home with family and kids.
In addition to his large family in Spain, he also enjoys spending quality time with his wife’s family. Angela comes from a family of athletes – she was a golf standout at the University of Texas. Her father Marty Akins was a Texas Longhorn quarterback and her cousin Drew Brees won Super Bowl XLIV as quarterback for the New Orleans Saints.
