THE FOUNDATIONS

GIVING IS CARING

Sergio and Angela have been extensively engaged and committed to their foundation work, and they have made a pledge to continue and expand their activities in the future.
The Sergio Garcia Foundation was brought into being in 2002 for the purpose of contributing to the social inclusion of economically deprived children and youths through social assistance benefits and the practice of sport as free-time activity. Originating in Europe, it has supported a large variety of NGOs and humanitarian associations.
The foundation has donated over $US 2 million since its inception. All this became possible through a partnership with the European Tour and Sergio’s direct player involvement to stage a series of tournaments for the benefit of those less fortunate and in need. The tournaments were the:

2019 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters by the Sergio Garcia Foundation
2018 & 2017 Andalucia Valderrama Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation
2016 Real Club Valderrama Open de España hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation

The 2016 Sergio & Friends in Bad Ragaz was unique, as the field consisted of Sergio’s closest friends. Highlights included a musical performance by saxophonist and Jazz legend Kenny G and a special evening emceed by golf expert and TV personality David Feherty.

“I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE TO BE BLESSED WITH A GIFT OF PLAYING GOLF, AND I THANK GOD FOR GIVING ME MY TALENTS. GOLF AND LIFE HAVE GIVEN ME A LOT AND I OWE IT TO SOCIETY TO GIVE BACK.

I DECIDED TO START MY OWN FOUNDATION TO HELP PEOPLE, AND ESPECIALLY CHILDREN, WHO NEED IT MOST.”

THE SERGIO AND ANGELA GARCIA FOUNDATION

Every year since 2016, Sergio and Angela Garcia have supported the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament and thus many young boys and girls, who seek to develop their golfing skills at the highest level. In 2021, the Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation Junior Championship was held at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin. Repeat winner was J. Holland Humphries in the boys division and Yunxuan (Michelle) Zhang for the girls.

Sergio and wife Angela raised another $2 million with the 3rd edition of the FORE Kids ATX event in Austin, Texas.
The benefitted organizations dear to their hearts are the Dell Children’s Medical Center, Foster Village, The Muny Conservacy Austin Youth Golf Academy and last but not least the UGLI Foundation founded by Angela Garcia herself.

THE UGLI FOUNDATION

With the support of Sergio, it is Angela’s mission and vision to make the world kinder and better, where bullying has no place at schools, work or our communities, but where each person is treated with respect and kindness for being UNIQUE, GIFTED, LOVED, INDIVIDUAL.

We ask you to join us in our cause to fight bullying and aggressive behavior and actions towards individuals wherever they may occur, including the contemporay culture of social media plattforms and to heighten the awareness among all of us. Help us and victims by becoming involved rather than being an innocent bystander.

Please assist us with our cause and take the pledge to support our idea and stop bullying.

Your donation will be greatly appreciated.

March, 24th 2021

Sergio and Angela Garcia have hosted once again the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament. The 2021 Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation Junior Championship was held at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. SERGIO IS BACK

October, 5th 2020

Sergio Garcia has won the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship with a birdie on the 72th hole. It is his 11th victory on the PGA Tour, the 38th of his career, the first he has achieved after turning 40, the first his young son Enzo was able to witness – a very special triumph for many reasons. But it is also a reward for all the hard work over last few month. Sergio is back in the winner’s circle and has proven that he is still able to compete on highest levels.

SERGIO GARCIA’S 83RD PARTICIPATION IN A ROW IN A MAJOR

August, 7th 2020

This year is the 22nd PGA Championship and first Major of the year played at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. And it is the 83rd consecutive Major for Sergio Garcia. Sadly, no fans are allowed on course due to protection measures against the COVID-19.

A SOLID WEEK FOR SERGIO AT THE WGC FEDEX ST. JUDE

August, 4th 2020

No other player has participated in more World Golf Championships than Sergio Garcia. With the WCG FecEx St. Jude at the TPC Southwind in Memphis he completed his 62nd WGC event out of 75 tournaments held to date since the series started in 1999.

SERGIO TOPS THE LIST OF MOST WGC PARTICIPATIONS

July, 30th 2020

This week, Sergio Garcia will become the player with most World Golf Championships played in history. The WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational is the first World Golf Championship after a months-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is played at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, and will be the 75th since this series started back in 1999.

SERGIO HAS RECORDED HIS THIRD BEST RUN OF HIS CAREER AT HILTON HEAD

June, 24th 2020

Sergio Garcia has finished the RBC Heritage, the second tournament on the PGA Tour after the coronavirus hiatus, with a great achievement. He has been able to squeeze his great golf at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head and has fought for victory until the last hole, with a fantastic sequence of three consecutive birdies in the final stretch of the tournament.

He finally finished in fifth position with a cumulative total of -19. Sergio chained three rounds of 65 strokes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a fantastic streak that had only been achieved twice before in his career, at the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2013 and the Castelló Masters in 2011.

THE MASTERS

A third round score of 70 on Saturday he was still in potion to win the tournament, sharing the lead with Justin Rose.

Sergio battled Justin Rose for 18 holes on Sunday, both finishing in regulation at -9. A play-off would decide the winner. Sergio took advantage and sealed the victory with a birdie in 18 to win the Masters and thius his first major championship.

THE PLAYER

SERGIO GARCIA

Garcia found his place among the best very quickly. That same year, he made international headlines at the PGA Championship at Medinah Country Club, hitting an incredible shot from an awful lie behind a tree on the 16th hole and managed to get the ball to the green – remembered all around the world. That same year, he qualified for the 1999 Ryder Cup after only a few months of competition. Garcia took the golfing world by storm – earning him the nickname “El Niño”.

Since then, Sergio has had a brilliant career. He has been in the OWGR top 10 for 379 weeks and winning tournaments all over the globe. In 2017, Sergio’s career was crowned by his first Major title when he won the Masters Championship at Augusta National on the birthday of his idol, Seve Ballesteros.

Sergio lives, breathes and bleeds Ryder Cup, and was a member of the European Ryder Cup team from 1999 through 2020 (in 2010 as vice captain) and has won the Ryder Cup with the European Team six times. He holds the record for being the European Team’s all-time leading points scorer, having amassed 25.5 points over his four decades of competing in the biennial event.

Besides golf, Sergio loves sports and enjoys playing tennis or football whenever he has some spare time. Garcia is also an avid Real Madrid supporter and was invited to take the honorary kickoff for El Clásico (between Real and archrival FC Barcelona) at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu wearing his green jacket after his Masters victory 2017.

Sergio has recently become more involved in the field of course design, with his first project was realized in 2008. Currently golf courses in Mexico and Portugal are being developed with his designs.
