Sergio dejó una impresión inmediata en el golf, no solo como amateur de enorme éxito, sino muy pronto como profesional. Antes de pasar a pro a la edad de 19 años, ya había ganado numerosos títulos como amateur: el European Amateur en 1995, siendo el más joven de la historia; el Amateur Boys Championship en 1997; y el British Amateur en Muirfield en 1998. Sergio fue también el mejor amateur en el Masters de 1999 antes de hacerse profesional. Se batió en duelo con Tiger Woods en el PGA Championship del 99 para terminar un solo golpe por detrás. Se convirtió en el jugador más joven en competir en la Ryder Cup. Y para colmo, ganó el premio Sir Henry Cotton como Novato del Año. Todo eso inició una carrera vertiginosa para Sergio, lo que le valió el apodo de «El Niño».

Durante su ilustre carrera, ha estado clasificado en el Top 50 del mundo durante más de 1000 semanas, una hazaña que solo otros cuatro jugadores han conseguido, y ha pasado 452 semanas en el Top 10 mundial. MASTERS

Como ya hiciera Seve Ballesteros y José María Olazabal, Sergio se convirtió es el tercer golfista de origen español en ganar el Masters de Augusta. En 2017 Sergio terminó la primera ronda el jueves con una tarjeta de 71 golpes que lo colocó en el top-5. Fue el único jugador ese día en terminar su ronda sin un solo bogey.

Con un -3 (69) en la segunda jornada co-lideraba con otros tres jugadores. Ahora, se metía de lleno en la pelea por la victoria.

Con un resultado de 70 golpes en la tercera ronda el sábado, aún estaba en posición de ganar el torneo, compartiendo el liderato con Justin Rose.

Sergio luchó contra Justin Rose los 18 hoyos del domingo y ambos terminaron empatados con -9. Un playoff decidiría el ganador. Sergio hizo birdie en el primer hoyo de desempate y selló su primera victoria en Grandes con el Masters de Augusta.

RYDER CUP

Después de convertirse en el jugador más joven en competir en la Ryder Cup, estaba claro que Sergio comenzaría un extraordinario idilio con esta competición. Ha representado a Europa en 10 ocasiones como jugador y una como vicecapitán. Es el jugador que más partidos ha ganado en la historia de Europa (25) y el que más puntos ha conseguido (28,5).

La Sergio García Golf Academy ha elaborado un programa anual, diseñado para la mejora y perfeccionamiento de jóvenes golfistas con edades comprendidas entre los 13 y los 18 años. ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL SERGIO AND ANGELA GARCIA FOUNDATION JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

Sergio and Angela Garcia have hosted once again the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament. The 2021 Sergio and Angela Garcia Foundation Junior Championship was held at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. The AJGA tournaments deliver the perfect platform for young golfers committed to the sport and wanting to develop their skills on highest level.

Sergio Garcia has won the 2020 Sanderson Farms Championship with a birdie on the 72th hole. It is his 11th victory on the PGA Tour, the 38th of his career, the first he has achieved after turning 40, the first his young son Enzo was able to witness – a very special triumph for many reasons. But it is also a reward for all the hard work over last few month. Sergio is back in the winner’s circle and has proven that he is still able to compete on highest levels.

SERGIO GARCIA’S 83RD PARTICIPATION IN A ROW IN A MAJOR

A SOLID WEEK FOR SERGIO AT THE WGC FEDEX ST. JUDE

No other player has participated in more World Golf Championships than Sergio Garcia. With the WCG FecEx St. Jude at the TPC Southwind in Memphis he completed his 62nd WGC event out of 75 tournaments held to date since the series started in 1999.

SERGIO TOPS THE LIST OF MOST WGC PARTICIPATIONS

This week, Sergio Garcia will become the player with most World Golf Championships played in history. The WGC FedEx St Jude Invitational is the first World Golf Championship after a months-long hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is played at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee, and will be the 75th since this series started back in 1999.

SERGIO HAS RECORDED HIS THIRD BEST RUN OF HIS CAREER AT HILTON HEAD

Sergio Garcia has finished the RBC Heritage, the second tournament on the PGA Tour after the coronavirus hiatus, with a great achievement. He has been able to squeeze his great golf at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head and has fought for victory until the last hole, with a fantastic sequence of three consecutive birdies in the final stretch of the tournament.

He finally finished in fifth position with a cumulative total of -19. Sergio chained three rounds of 65 strokes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, a fantastic streak that had only been achieved twice before in his career, at the Deutsche Bank Championship in 2013 and the Castelló Masters in 2011.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Sergio was low amateur at the Masters in 1999 before turning pro shortly thereafter. He dueled Tiger Woods at the PGA Championship to finish one stroke behind. Shortly afterwards, he became the youngest player ever to compete in the Ryder Cup. In addition, he won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award in 1999. During his illustrious career, he was ranked 1.098 weeks in the Top 50 and 453 weeks in the Top 10 of the OWGR.

He has won an excess of 35 tournaments worldwide including the 1998 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters.
He received the Vardon Trophy and Byron Nelson Award in 2008 and was European Tour Golfer of the Year in 2017.

El Campeonato Junior de la Fundación Sergio y Ángela García 2021 se llevó a cabo en el Club de Golf de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, Texas. Los torneos AJGA ofrecen una plataforma perfecta para aquellos jóvenes golfistas comprometidos con el deporte y que desean desarrollar sus habilidades al más alto nivel.

SERGIO GARCIA

García se colocó muy rápido entre los mejores golfistas del mundo. En un solo año acaparó titulares en todo el mundo en el PGA Championship celebrado en el Medinah Country Club. Su golpe en el hoyo 16 quedó para siempre en la retina de todos los aficionados. Pegó desde detrás de un árbol, con la bola muy mal colocada y consiguió llevarla hasta el green. También en 1999 logró clasificarse para la Ryder Cup después de jugar apenas unos meses como profesional. García arrasó en el mundo del golf y se ganó el apodo de “El Niño”.

Desde entonces, Sergio ha tenido una carrera brillante. Ha estado en el top 10 del Ranking Mundial durante 452 semanas y ha ganado torneos en todo el mundo. En 2017 la carrera de Sergio se vio coronada con su primera victoria en un Grande, tras imponerse en el Masters de Augusta en el día del cumpleaños de su ídolo, Seve Ballesteros.

Sergio vive, respira y lleva en la sangre la Ryder Cup. Ha sido miembro del equipo europeo de la Ryder Cup desde 1999 hasta 2020 (en 2010 como vicecapitán) y ha ganado la Ryder Cup en seis ocasiones. Posee el récord de puntos de todos los tiempos del equipo europeo, con un acumulado impresionante de 25,5 puntos en diez participaciones como jugador.

Además del golf, a Sergio le encantan los deportes y disfruta en su tiempo libre jugando al tenis o al fútbol. García también es un encendido aficionado del Real Madrid. Después de ganar el Masters en 2017 fue invitado a realizar el saque de honor de El Clásico (entre el Real Madrid y su eterno rival FC Barcelona) en el estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Lo hizo con la Chaqueta Verde.

Recientemente, Sergio se ha involucrado aún más en el diseño de campos de golf. Realizó su primer proyecto en 2008 y actualmente está desarrollando proyectos en México y Portugal.
