Mayakoba Country Club, Mexico
At the World Wide Technology Championship in November 2021, it was announced that Sergio would build the new Mayakoba Country Club. Mayakoba claimed international fame as being the first destination outside the US and Canada to host a PGA TOUR event. With this design project, Sergio extends his commitment to Latin America.
Comporta, Portugal
A new 18-hole course for Vanguard Properties at the spectacular Comporta Torre development in Comporta, Portugal is currently under construction. One hour from Lisboa, the 365 hectare Torre real estate property will provide a natural landmark hideaway to vacationers seeking maximum luxury, comfort and individuality.

STRIKER, HIS DESIGNS AWARD PRECISION AND SHOT MAKING OVER LENGTH AND POWER GOLF. BUT MORE THAN ANYTHING, SERGIO AND HIS DESIGN TEAM FIT THE GOLF COURSE INTO THE GIVEN TERRAIN AND THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT.
MORE THAN A CHAMPION
With growing enthusiasm and dedication, Sergio has committed himself to golf course design. He enjoys applying his vast experience and innumerable visits to thousands of golf courses on all continents over the years into his own design.
His valued input and foresight as a player consultant to Greg Norman introduced him to course design in 2010, when the AT&T Oaks Course in San Antonio – home of the Valero Texas Open – was developed. What follow was his own design project in 2013, when the Aranya International Golf Club in the city of Qinhuangdoa – three hours from Beijing – opened. Currently, two other projects are under development in Mexico and Portugal.
Sergio’s committment to his clients and projects is best exemplified by his full service package approach, from the initial site analysis to concept design, design development and construction supervision all the way to the opening. Further services include marketing rights and benefits to maximize the branding potential.
TPC SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
OAKS COURSE
The course was designed with a traditional approach in mind, away from the stadium course style developments we have seen to accommodated large numbers of spectators.
Instead, the par-72 layout challenges players with narrow oak tree lined fairways and rugged bunkers. Prevailing winds may be coming from both directions. making the course trying to golfers of any handicap.
ARANYA INTERNATIONAL GOLF CLUB, CHINA
Just three hours from Beijing lies the Aranya International Golf Club, Sergio’s first complete golf course design in Asia. Sergio was excited from the beginning after his initial visit to the site. Aranya International Golf club claimed further notable visibility as qualifying venue for the 2013 Volvo China Open.
Sergio says: .“We have an unbelievable piece of land that is allowing us to design and build a linksstyle golf course which are my favorite to play. The site is pure sand with existing dunes, great elevation change, sea views and nice trees, all of which have been incorporated into the design. Our total earthworks are very limited as we have been able to find exciting golf holes that were already there waiting to be discovered. This site and golf course will be very unique for China and should quickly become one of the best in the entire country.“
